Matthew 12:34–35 (NLT)

34…For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.

35A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.

Exodus 14:11–12 (NLT)

11…“Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt?

12Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’ ”

Exodus 16:8 (NLT)

8…your complaints are against the Lord, not against us.”

2 Corinthians 11:21–27 (NIV)

21To my shame I admit that we were too weak for that! Whatever anyone else dares to boast about—I am speaking as a fool—I also dare to boast about.

22Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they Abraham’s descendants? So am I.

23Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again.

24Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one.

25Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea,

26I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.

27I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.

Philippians 2:14–15 (NLT)

14Do everything without complaining and arguing,

15so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

Philippians 2:16 (NLT)

16Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.

Philippians 2:17–18 (NLT)

17But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy.

18Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy.

2 Timothy 4:6 (NLT)

6As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near.

Romans 8:28 (NIV)

28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Philippians 1:12–14 (NIV)

12Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.

13As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.

14And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

Psalm 103:1 (NLT)

1Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name
